jumping out of 1st gear?

Have a '67 VW. Installed clutch, pressure plate, release bearing, mounting cross Moter mounts. If the facility is very smooth clutch in all gears, if you release the clutch gear first violenty quickly jumps in and out of the arts, but not any other first gear only. without oil in the clutch and again very smooth if you let the clutch slowly

It appears that you have a retention problem. is a small spring and ball in the link lever that locks the shifter in that position.
