Genuine Honda

92 Honda Accord. Changed thermostat b/c stuck open. Now radiator steams when at stop lights. Fans working.?
Changed thermostat b/c engine would barely heat when arriving at work (+10 miles), night temps below freezing. Replaced w/generic, problem solved. Shortly after, radiator plastic top cracked open (since repaired), but now steam comes out of cap when stopped or parked. Engine gauge displays normal temp. Have heard fans come on after parking. Could the generic thermostat be defective or be too tight? Should I purchase a more expensive genuine Honda part? Coolant appears to be circulating per visual test with cap off.
OEM parts always work best, but I suspect an air pocket in your cooling system. The thermostat housing should have a bleeder screw in it. Remove the screw (with engine off and cool) and add coolant to the radiator till it starts coming out of the bleeder hole. Then replace the screw, and top off the radiator.
Hope this helps and good luck
