What would cause a 2002 Dodge Dakota with V8 engine, from starting on the first try, even with a new battery?

I can usually get my truck to start after trying 2-3 times. Sometimes it starts on the first try, especially after just running it. It also usually starts better when the outside air is cold, and not as good when warm. I have no problems once the engine is running. Thank you for your time.

run a check on the fuel pressure and make sure the pump is working good on it, the pumps in those years gave a few problems,you might want try and changing the plugs also ,when they get over 50 thousand on them they will cause this too happen,good luck with it.
