Did the Cherokee Indians change their lifestyle to reflect white American standards of the time?

Yes. They established a written constitution, had a body of laws and a written language with it’s own alphabet. They even, like their white neighbodrs had slaves.
All this didn’t do much for them. Georgia passed a resolution nullifying their laws and the US government made a deal with Georgia to strip the Cherokee of their lands.
When Jackson wanted to remove them, the tribe took the case to court citing state and federal laws. The US Supreme Court ruled in their favor but Congress and the Presdient ignored it.
