Carburator Right

Carburator Right
carburator problems with a 91 kx 125?

i have had this bike for about 3 years and i have never been able to get the cab jetted right and u can tell someone before i owned it has tried to mill where the jets go but i was going to buy a new carb for it and i was wondering what mm size should i go with , and i have three other bikes and i have never had any problems with tuning the carbs on them. And the bike has no bottom end power with the old carb but it runs decent when its up in the powerband that is after it burns away all of the excess fuel that it dumps in while at lowwer rpm’s and it has a brand new top and bottom end on it and i know its the carb any pointers would be great

Seth,,a “machine” can only fail a specific number of certain ways.

But when Human Hands get ahold of something ,the possibilities are unlimited.

Carbs are Very delicate,,,even a slight injury in certain places can leave them never working right again.
And there’s just no telling the extent of tampering damage yours may have.

Just to buy jets/needles/nozzle,etc to put it back “stock” would cost as much as a used carb.
And even that is still no gaurantee it would ever work right.

I agree with your thinking to just replace the carb & go from there.

They come with a Keihin PWK 35mm carb
They’re very good carbs,,and a 35 is a good size

Only the 33mm and 35mm Keihin’s fit your intake manifold/air breather hose anyway.
(Your’s should have a 42mm Intake Manifold spigot,,,next size keihin’s are 46mm)

Mikuni’s are either too big or too small to be a direct fit into a KX’s 42mm manifold.
Mikuni’s are 40mm,44mm,and 47mm
