Bumper Filler
Touch up painting a plastic bumper. Need advise.?
I have an 01 Artic White Camaro SS. The other day a was lightly rearended and the paint on my plastic rear bumber chiped and flaked off. Its a kinda small section on the corner. There are no creases or cracks on the actual bumper, just paint flaking off. I know i have to remove any cracked or flaking remaining paint. Now I have the problem. Should I just sand down the whole section and blend it in or should I use a some type of filler to fill the flaked off spots to be even with the rest. I do plan on using a primer, basecoat and clear coat with all neccesary sanding. I basically just need to know should I sand it all smooth or use some lightweight filler and which one. Thanks.
Wet sand it with 1500 grit sand paper. anywhere the paint is flaking. rinse the residue off and let it dry. then just blend in the paint. Never ever ever repair a plastic bumper with any kind of filler, if there is a crack they have some repair kits you can get to help repair the crack. in your case you do not need it. 1500 grit sand paper and wet sand the area.
